Determining The Success of Strong Motion Records in Calculating P-Wave Moment Magnitude

چکیده
Earthquake early warning systems have high importance and improving continuously using different analysing techniques. The system depends on calculating a magnitude in short time with as accuracy possible. Large earthquakes that tsunami potential occurred will be especially the Mediterranean Aegean Seas Turkey has settlements along these coastlines. In practice, weak-motion (velocity) records are generally used to determine magnitude, but seismic disadvantage: clipping problem around epicentre. Up now, there is not much work study of strong-motion (acceleration) calculate an earthquake accuracy. This focused P-wave moment body waves recorded at strong motion stations caused by possible source region earthquakes. For reason, we three larger than 6.0 Mw. difference between Global Centroid Moment Tensor (GCMT) about 0.2 m.u. which acceptable considering purpose.

A Strong Ground Motion Catalogue of Selected Records for Shallow Crustal, Near Field Earthquakes in Iran
Understanding strong ground motions in the near-fault areas is important for seismic risk assessment in densely populated areas. In the past, lack of information on strong ground motion for large and moderate earthquakes led to the use of mainly far field large and moderate earthquake records in equations for calculation of the strong ground motion parameters. In this article, we collected and ...

Cumulative absolute velocity (CAV), Arias intensity (AI), and characteristic intensity (CI) are measurable characteristics to show collapse potential of structures, evaluation of earth movement magnitude, and detection of structural failure in an earthquake. In this paper, parameters which describe three characteristics of ground motion have been investigated by using wavelet transforms (WT). I...
متن کاملFuzzy logic-based attenuation relationships of strong motion earthquake records
Fuzzy logic techniques have been widely used in civil and earthquake engineering applications in the past four decades. However, no thorough research studies were conducted to use them for deriving attenuation relationships for peak ground accelerations (PGA). This paper is an attempt to fill this gap by employing a fuzzy approach with fuzzy sets for earthquake magnitude and distance from sourc...
متن کاملDynamic Characteristics of Buildings Estimated from Strong Motion Records
Estimation of the dynamic characteristics of buildings is a key issue in seismic design technology. Since 1957, the Building Research Institute (BRI), Japan, has been operating a network to monitor strong motion in buildings. In this study, dynamic characteristics of 25 actual buildings in the BRI network were estimated by using strong motion records. Acceleration records from two sensors respe...
